I have an advanced degree in tea parties, largely because I have one almost every day with my daughter, Ava. She has taught me enough wisdom and tea party etiquette that I could probably teach a course about it. One her most important rules is that every tea party has snacks. Therefore, we have chosen our ultimate tea party snack which just happens to be a scone. Scones are a slightly sweeter version of a biscuit with a bit more crumble to them. They are one of Ava and my favorite snacks for just about any time of the day but most importantly for tea time. Ava's second rule is that you need to adhere to proper dress code during a tea party. This dress up set from SmitCo LLC fits the bill perfectly. Ava is obsessed with the lace umbrella and gloves, especially because they are the perfect size for her. It's often difficult to find dress up clothes that will actually fit a toddler. The sparkly tutu and princess tiara complete the outfit. Ava's eye lit up when she saw the special outfit for the first time. SmitCo LLC's pink play princess set would make a great Easter or birthday gift for any 2-5 year-old girl. It's been Ava-tested and approved. SmitCo LLC has been kind enough to give my readers 20% off their entire cart of gifts! Go to: http://amzn.to/2a3d3v8 and use coupon code N3CQD6AE on checkout
Ultimate Scones Recipe (Recipe adapted from Allrecipes)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter. Mix the egg and milk in a small bowl, and stir into flour mixture until moistened. Add raisins and mix until combined.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead briefly. Roll dough out into a 1/2 inch thick round. Cut into eight wedges, and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
Eat and enjoy! Tea party or not, I promise these will be gobbled up quicker than you can say "yummy!" Thank you SmittCo LLC for teaming up with me on this post.
